This evening will be a celebration of achievements an individual in the Black community to commemorate Black History Month. Our guest speaker Kayla Grey exemplifies leadership and success in the field of Broadcasting. She is the host and co-executive producer of TSN’s The Shift with Kayla Grey, appears regularly as an anchor of SportsCentre, and reports courtside for TSN’s live coverage of the Toronto Raptors. Grey is making an imprint on Broadcasting, Culture and Entertainment and demonstrates the positive impact of Black female leadership through her ability to share meaningful narratives and engaging storytelling. Grey became the first Black woman to host a flagship sports highlight show in Canada when she made her SportsCentre debut in 2018. Kayla Grey’s voice and presence is a shining star amongst the legacy of Black Canadians.

In 2019, Grey was awarded the ByBlacks magazine People’s Choice Award in the TV Personality category. Grey was also honoured on Chatelaine’s 2020 Women of the Year list, named one of Refinery29’s PowerHouse Women of 2020, and Woman of the Year in Post City Magazine. She has also been recognized by Women of Influence as one of the Top 25 Women of Influence in Canada for 2021. In 2022, Grey received the Change Maker Award by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and honoured with The Jahmil French award for "rising star" in Canadian media at the inaugural Legacy Awards.

Spotlighting trailblazers is a powerful way to acknowledge the contributions of marginalized communities and cultures which helps to promote diversity and inclusion. The fireside chat will explore various topics such as leadership, representation, inclusion and allyship. Grey’s journey is an inspirational story, as she has successfully forged a path towards a more inclusive and diverse industry and country. Moderating the conversation will be Michelle Hunte, Program Manager, Walmart, followed by audience Q&A and networking. Opening remarks will be made by Aliyah Mohamed, Chief Capital Officer, KingSett Capital.
