This interactive workshop is for beginners starting on their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) journey. Led by Facilitator Sheliza Jamal, from CuratED Leadership, it will provide a foundation for anyone who wants to learn. It will focus on explaining key terms and basic concepts that will lay the groundwork to develop awareness and understand about DEI, help to build self-confidence to talk about these issues and play an active role in anti-racism and anti-oppression.

Through a series of activities, case studies, and discussions, participants will walk away being able to:
  • Define equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Understand terms and concepts such as anti-oppression, bias, equality, institutional racism and oppression. 
  • Develop a deeper understanding of power and privilege. 
  • Develop tangible strategies to disrupt oppressive cycles and structures in personal and professional environments.
