It's an annual CREW Network convention tradition for Canadian chapter members to gather for an all-Canadian networking reception, and this year was no exception.
On September 15, the Virtual Networking Event for Canadian Members
preceded the start of the 2020 CREW Network Convention
. Delee Fromm
, author, psychologist and lawyer, gave a 30-minute presentation on virtual networking, followed by small group networking in breakout rooms.
Whether virtual or in person, networking increases your professional visibility with industry peers, strengthens relationships, deepens your network of contacts, and provides reciprocal opportunities for advice and support.
Prior to the event, Delee provided participants with a questionnaire to examine their mindset about networking and beliefs or habits that either support or hinder. Preparation for networking also includes:
- Your online profile – what does it tell you?
- Is your brand consistent?
- Is it what you want to say?
- What do you want to say?
- Will it develop a strong and strategic network?
Be ready for questions like “What’s up?” or “What’s new?” These questions are opportunities to share an anecdote that promotes you and your brand. Most importantly, prepare your offer of help to provide during or after your networking.
