News Article:
I am honoured to be the President of Toronto CREW in 2016, particularly as we celebrate our 20th Anniversary.

Toronto CREW is dedicated to empowering women to excel, influence and lead throughout their commercial real estate career. With over 210 Toronto CREW members and over 9,500 CREW Network members in 72 chapters across North America, we are actively engaged in influencing the success of the commercial real estate industry by advancing the achievements of women.

Toronto CREW has several successful programs and events, including the REAL Jobs Day program which educates high school students of the various career opportunities in real estate, the Economic Update Luncheon, the Annual Golf Tournament, the New Member Prospecting Events, and the Year-End Event. This past year, we saw the start of the Women’s Leadership Development Program for mid-range professionals. Based on the overwhelming positive feedback from the women who are presently enrolled, Toronto CREW will be continuing the program in 2016. In addition to the existing programs, we will introduce new, focused activities to ensure that women, at all stages in their careers, succeed and continue to thrive within the commercial real estate industry.

Toronto CREW continues to give back to the industry through its highly successful Mentorship Program for young women starting their careers in real estate, the Scholarship Program which provides scholarships to women enrolled in commercial real estate programs at Ontario Universities and its Foundation Program supporting several charity organizations through donations and volunteer programs.

Thank you to our Corporate Sponsors - we have well over 40 companies that have sponsored us for the coming year and without their support we would not be able to run this organization.

We are very proud of Tara Piurko, our previous Past President, who has been elected to the Board of Directors for CREW Network for a two year term. Tara’s representation, leadership and commitment at the international level will undoubtedly increase Toronto CREW’s visibility and will strengthen our members’ identity within CREW Network. Congratulations, Tara.

Our focus for the upcoming year is to strengthen Toronto CREW’s presence in the commercial real estate industry, to ensure that we offer engaging programs to our membership and to the industry-at-large, and to ensure that our membership is supported and empowered. We can reach this goal by working together, by learning from each other and by celebrating each other’s personal accomplishments. The 20th Anniversary Gala to be held on June 8, 2016 is a great opportunity to do just that! We will take time to reflect on our past, to celebrate our successes and to plan for the future.

I look forward to working closely with the Board of Directors and our committee leaders in 2016. These women dedicate numerous hours and are committed to the success of Toronto CREW and its members. Our membership is made up of talented, dedicated, hard-working individuals at many levels of their professional careers. The ultimate success of Toronto CREW comes from the relationships that are developed and the inspiration that is so willingly provided by and to its members.

I am proud of our past accomplishments and look forward to working along-side all of you for a successful year to come.
