New Mentorship 2.0 Program

This new program is aimed to serve members with six to 10 years’ experience in commercial real estate. This will be the first Toronto CREW program directly targeted to this particular group.  Members with five years’ experience or less are eligible for the original Mentorship Program. This new program is intended to fill the gap.

Program Format

We are looking to recruit five to seven mentees and five to seven mentors who will meet once per month for three months virtually or in a downtown boardroom in a group session* and meet for one-to-one sessions a minimum of three times during the program. Group meetings will be held over lunch on Tuesdays and will run from 12:00  to 1:30 pm sharp. One-to-one sessions will be arranged with each mentee and mentor.

Each session will discuss one issue prearranged at the training session based on participants goals and objectives, for group discussion. In this format the mentees can benefit from the experience of several mentors, and of their fellow mentees.  Discussions will be facilitated by two members of the Mentorship Committee, to ensure that all voices are heard.

*Subject to public health recommendations with respect to COVID-19.

Topics to be discussed may include the following:

  • Employment (setting strategic goals and objectives, achievement of goals and objectives, job satisfaction, day-to-day issues, workplace relations, performance reviews, etc.)
  • Career management and planning (career pathways, career change, career planning and development, transition from technical role to management, etc.)
  • Balancing work and personal life (partners/spouses vs. career, starting a family, parental leave, schooling for children, combining work and family commitments, etc.)
  • Personal development (professionalism, time management, stress management, interpersonal skills, networking, leadership, etc.)
  • Education (continuing professional development, pursuit of MBA or other designation, combining work and study, etc.)

Mentees will also be paired with a mentor with the opportunity to attend a minimum of three one-to-one sessions to be held virtually until in-person meetings can be held.

All mentors and mentees participating in Mentorship 2.0 are required to attend a mandatory Program Launch and Training Session on:

Date:  May 11, 2021 (TBC)
Time:  5:00 - 6:30 pm
